Foo Fighters & Taylor Momsen Cover Mariah Carey’s Secret ‘90s Grunge Songs At MusiCares Tribute

The existence of Mariah Carey’s secret ’90s grunge album was first revealed in her 2020 memoir The Meaning Of Mariah Carey. In 1995, Someone’s Ugly Daughter was released under the band name Chick without her lead vocals. It was inspired by Sleater-Kinney and L7 and Carey has been “on a quest” to find the version of the LP with her lead vocals intact so she could put it out; last fall she talked with SZA and Jimmy Fallon about the mission. In the meantime, Foo Fighters and Taylor Momsen teamed up to cover some of its tracks last night at the MusiCares Person Of The Year benefit gala honoring the singer.
