Robyn Covers Erasure For BBC Radio 2

Robyn is still making the rounds in the long tail of her Sexistential campaign. Today, that path has carried her to BBC Radio 2’s studios for a performance on Jo Whiley’s Sofa Sessions. In addition to album tracks “Dopamine,” “Sucker For Love,” and “Talk To Me,” she broke out a cover of Erasure’s 1994 synth-pop ballad “Always.” Her treatment is faithful to the original while sounding distinctively Robyn-esque. Check out all four performances below.

Matty Healy Sang With A 1975 Covers Band At His Stag Party

It’s been a while since Matty Healy has released any music or even played any shows with his band the 1975. Being Funny In A Foreign Language, the group’s most recent album, is a few months away from it fourth birthday, and their most recent performance was their headlining set at Glastonbury, a little more than a year ago. In the right circumstances, though, Healy is absolutely down to perform with a 1975 tribute band.

Phil Collins Looking Forward To Meeting Oasis At Rock Hall Induction After Noel Gallagher Called Him The Antichrist

Noel Gallagher has made many enemies over the years. One is Phil Collins, who he called “the antichrist of music” in the ’90s. But the musicians will cross paths at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this fall when Gallagher (with Oasis) and Phil Collins (for his solo work) will both be inducted, and Collins is looking forward to it.

Queens Of The Stone Age – “Easy Street” (Feat. Nikki Lane)

In the past few days, Josh Homme has appeared on two extremely different new songs, Shania Twain’s “Faded Blue Jeans” and Mastodon’s “Snakes For Dinner.” Now, his band Queens Of The Stone Age return with a surprisingly gorgeous and non-heavy new single called “Easy Street,” which doesn’t sound anything like “Faded Blue Jeans” or “Snakes For Dinner.” Perhaps Homme has more range than we realized.

Penelope Isles – “I Loved You, Robert Pattinson”

What a year for Robert Pattinson! I thought he was sensational as a wormy little fuck in The Drama, and we’re a few days away from seeing him as Antinous in The Odyssey. Later in the year, he’ll pop up in Dune: Part Three, and he’ll also play Chris Hansen, alongside a debuting Phoebe Bridgers, in Primetime. Also! He and Denzel Washington are the leads of the Fernando Meirelles bank-robbery picture Here Comes The Flood. On top of all of that, Penelope Isles have a new song about how they loved him. That’s pretty good, too!
