Grimes DJing Immortality Influencer’s Shroom Trip With Special Guest Mr. Beast

Grimes is a fan of Bryan Johnson, the multimillionaire and immortality influencer who spends his time trying to fight death. He is perhaps best known for undergoing plasma transfusions with donations from his teenage son a few years ago. Earlier this year Grimes tweeted that she is “so into Bryan Johnson,” explaining she “got into it as a joke but after getting my data he did successfully gamify my health in my mind.” Now, she’ll be DJing his livestreamed shroom trip tomorrow.

Kneecap Follow Through On Promise To Sue Canadian Legislator

Kneecap have been on the receiving end of legal action this year, and now they’re going on the offensive. The Irish rap group, who have been outspoken critics of Israel and advocates for Palestine, announced today that, as promised, they’re suing a Canadian legislator whose public comments about them “were wholly untrue and deeply malicious.”

Aphex Twin Shares Two New Tracks, Beach Pic With Girlfriend

The Aphex Twin fan experience can be quite piecemeal. Sometimes Richard D. James gives us carefully curated packages like last year’s Selected Ambient Works reissue. And sometimes we get unpolished gems dumped onto the internet with haphazard filenames. So it went on Thanksgiving, when James posted two versions of a track called “Zahl am1” to…

Jack White & Eminem’s Thanksgiving Day Halftime Show Is Now Streaming

We knew Jack White would put on a fantastic show when he was announced as the halftime entertainment for his hometown Detroit Lions’ annual Thanksgiving Day football game. We did not realize the performance would feature fellow Detroit legend Eminem, who emerged to rap “Till I Collapse” over “Hello Operator” about halfway through White’s set — a convergence that would have seemed unthinkable in 2000, when the White Stripes released “Hello Operator” parent album De Stijl and Eminem dropped The Marshall Mathers LP, and nearly as outlandish in 2002, when the Stripes reissued White Blood Cells on V2 and Em dropped The Eminem Show, which gave us “Till I Collapse.”

Stream Arbor Labor Union’s Jammy, Folky Indie Rock Mini-Album Out To Pasture

In their Bandcamp bio, Atlanta indie band Arbor Labor Union self-describe as “transcendental twang.” They came to my attention a while back through Josh Terry’s essential No Expectations newsletter, and this Thanksgiving season I am grateful for the find. ALU popped up in the Bandcamp notifications this morning with a new release titled Out To…

Antinoë, Black Metal Pianist

Teresa Marraco started taking piano lessons when she was five years old. The artist who now records as Antinoë couldn’t reach the pedals yet, but she quickly discovered that she loved to play. Her teacher, Clara, taught her not just how to read sheet music but how to be creative, to envision and ultimately realize ideas beyond what was written in the score. “She would ask, ‘What does this song tell you? Can you sing something about it? Can you draw something about it?’ It triggered my imagination,” Marraco says. She continued to study with Clara until she was 17.

Ticketmaster & AXS Will Reimburse Olivia Dean Fans Who Bought Resellers’ Marked-Up Tickets

Olivia Dean, the English soul-pop star whose single “Man I Need” recently became a Top 5 hit in the US, publicly called out Ticketmaster last week when she discovered that tickets to her summer North American tour were priced with some pretty egregious markups. “The prices at which you’re allowing tickets to be re-sold is vile and completely against our wishes,” Dean wrote in her Instagram stories directed to Ticketmaster. “Live music should be affordable and accessible and we need to find a new way of making that possible.” Her call-outs worked, and Ticketmaster capped resale prices for Dean’s tour at face value. Now, Ticketmaster and AXS are also refunding the difference to ticket buyers who already paid over face value.
