SOAK – “Death Valley Fridge Magnet”

Bridie Monds-Watson is back with a lovely new SOAK song today, “Death Valley Fridge Magnet” finds Monds-Watson in that boygenius-era indie singer-songwriter zone: smooth yet emotionally charged, building up from airy acoustics and plaintive piano to a shimmering, fuzz-drenched finale. “Never, never, never gonna let you forget,” Monds-Watson sings, their vocals like a faint beam of light amidst the music’s intensifying churn.

Man/Woman/Chainsaw – “Get Up And Dance”

The keyboard sounds like it’s whistling. That’s the first thing that jumps out at me on “Get Up And Dance,” the eerie and entrancing new single from Man/Woman/Chainsaw. The young British Band To Watch have been rolling out their debut album Cannonball, sharing the winsome advance tracks “Only Girl,” “Nosedive,” and “Goddamn, Lizard Man!” This cannonball launch is not slowing down, either.

SZA Warns AI Is Exploiting Black Artists, Calls Out Diplo

Last week the Atlantic posted an upsetting report about datasets of music that are being used to train AI. If they weren’t already aware, major artists from Bad Bunny to Nirvana are part of it. The Atlantic identified over 21 million recordings across four datasets. I even did a quick search on my favorite artists such as Squirrel Flower and the Cramps, and both of their music included. One of the many artists who’s speaking out after searching their name is SZA.

Goose Share Statement After Fan Falls To His Death At MSG

Last night, as Connecticut rock band Goose played the second of two consecutive shows at Madison Square Garden, a 51-year-old man fell to his death. He reportedly fell from the upper 300 level to the 100 level, where concertgoers were evacuated from their seats and the area was roped off. The man was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Swifties Are Coming For Metallica’s Kirk Hammett

You have to be really bored to provoke Taylor Swift fans. It’s probably pretty boring to be in Metallica in 2026. No shade. But lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, maybe in an attempt to distract from the Geese psyop allegations, recently wore a T-shirt onstage that said “Taylor Swift Is a CIA Psyop.” Now, Swifties are attacking.

Geese’s Live Show: Not A Psyop

They’re so loose because they’re so tight. When Geese take the stage, they don’t re-create their recordings. It barely even feels like they’re performing songs with a defined structure — more like summoning a familiar sequence of chords and lyrics from the ether, whipping around riffs and fills like a marionette’s appendages. It’s the kind of free-flowing organized chaos that can only come from a hard-won mind-meld, from years spent coming of age together, instruments in hand. Underneath everything else, Geese have that going for them: They play like a single virtuosic organism.
