Harmony Tividad – “Best Dressed”

This month, Harmony Tividad releases Lifetime, the followup to her sleazy electro-pop masterpiece Gossip. So far she’s previewed Lifetime with “Where Strangers Go,” “Anything,” “Apple Pie,” and “I’m Still Learning How To Leave You,” all of which reverberate with the introspective indie pop of her Girlpool days. Now, she’s back with another one called “Best Dressed.”

Show Me The Body – “Eat For Peace”

A few weeks ago, I interviewed Show Me The Body backstage at Salt Lake City’s Kilby Block Party. I was nervous about that one. Even though I like that band a lot, I had this idea that they’d be ultra-serious, monkish types and that the conversation would be awkward as hell: Turns out: No! Those guys are very funny and chill, and I would hang out with them whenever. Their festival set destroyed, too. I’m not even sure why I’m telling you this, but it’s the sort of thing I would want to know.

Sturgill Simpson’s Mutiny After Midnight — released under his Johnny Blue Skies alias — was one of the best albums of the year. Lockimara – “Tastes Like”

If you enjoy ear — whose Rumspringa received our Album Of The Week honor last month — then listen up. Lockimara is the project of New York-via-Toronto artist Nicholas Gay, who’s providing a similar brand of dreamy electronic earworms. Last month he announced his sophomore album Only Sun, Only Moon and shared the lead single “December,” and now he’s back with “Tastes Like.”
