2 Chainz, Cash Cobain, and Young Nudy are three great tastes that taste great together. The Atlanta rap comedic genius, the NYC sexy drill pioneer, and the Atlanta trap iconoclast have joined forces on the new single “Reign.” With its high-pitched soul sample and lush slo-mo beat, the vibe is reminiscent of the Kanye West/Twista/Jamie Foxx hit “Slow Jamz.” It’s a strip-club anthem that feels eminently listenable even without its strip-club music video. (I don’t know if that’s Atlanta’s famed Magic City we’re seeing, but Cash’s chorus begins, “Magic City, I’m with Tity Boi,” so probably.)

Earlier this year, Mike Watt joined forces with J Mascis to cover each other’s bands on a split. The Minutemen cofounder has stayed active since then; most recently, he announced a collaborative album with Ontario experimental noise rock band Thresher. It’s called Beekeeper, and it arrives next week.

Last month, Phoebe Bridgers unleashed her long-awaited, breathtaking Punisher followup Lost Weekend, whose list of collaborators raised eyebrows. The most interesting contributor was probably Justin Broadrick of Godflesh and Jesu. Rundle is a master of bleak and heavy mood music, and she’ll release her new album These Killing Times in a couple of weeks. We’ve already heard the early tracks “Powerless” and “Enough.” “God’s Picture” keeps the streak going.

Julia’s War, the Philadelphia label founded by They Are Gutting A Body Of Water frontman Doug Dulgarian, is on a pretty absurd winning streak right now, putting out strong recent records from acts like Total Wife, Mx Lonely, God Of War, and Melaina Kol. For their next trick, they’ll get together with Bee Side Cassettes to release the new LP from the St. Louis band Shady Bug.

Dreamy Winnipeg mainstays Living Hour are following up last year’s excellent Internal Drone Infinity with a new EP. Magnet, which drops three weeks from today, comprises two new songs and two demos of Internal Drone Infinity tunes. It leads off with the title track, which dials back Living Hour’s hard-hitting qualities in favor of a drifting panorama that fits in well alongside the likes of Cassandra Jenkins, Julia Holter, and Emily A. Sprague. It’s a study in mood, texture, and shapeless beauty, and its final lyric will stay with me: “I wanna sleep at the edge of the text on the screen.”

Baltimore’s Crying Laughing play an intoxicating combination of jazz and post-rock. Next week they’ll release their latest album Talking on the revered experimental label Hausu Mountain, and they previewed it Tuesday with a third advance single. “Geese Six,” the album closer, follows the release of “Ricemeat” and opening track “Toppled Column.” All three are worth hearing, but this one especially; I love its balance of rumbling bass, pounding rhythm, celestial keyboards, and honking sax.
