Zach Bryan is teasing new music on YouTube again, as he is wont to do. The country star is currently on his stadium tour — sadly without MJ Lenderman — promoting January’s With Heaven On Top. But he teased a new song called “Pocket Change” shortly after that release, and last month he released a track titled “Breakfast In Bed.” Now, he’s announcing a new EP called Young Manhood And Other Donatable Organs and sharing two videos of himself performing snippets of songs called “Lodi When” and “Better Friends” on acoustic guitar. The Gansett Games is an annual field day in Amagansett, NY hosted by billionaire crypto investor Mike Novogratz. The event was shouted out in T-shirt form on an episode of Billions back in 2022. It seems like a premier rich-people gathering, and Novogratz rounded up a lot of rock stars for this year’s closing ceremony on June 27.

There’s always some kind of drama when Damon Albarn plays Roskilde. In 2015, the Blur and Gorillaz leader was forcibly removed from the stage at the Danish music festival after refusing to end his set with the Africa Express collective. (They even covered “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” for the occasion.) Then, in 2018, Gorillaz’s set was cut short when Del Tha Funky Homosapien fell off the stage. Now there’s been a conflict that led one musician to declare Albarn “soft as baby shit.”

San Francisco-based Hana Freed records electronic indie pop (sorry, make that “emotional computer core”) as Tricky FM. She’ll be dropping her new album Twin Star Fantasy this fall, and as today’s single “Sugar In My Drink” demonstrates, you’d be wise to pay attention. The song’s blend of misty synths, kinetic breakbeats, and breathy, holographic vocals is a bit like ear crossed with early Grimes — a chilly endorphin rush ideal for sipping some ice water while fending off the sweltering temperatures enveloping the United States right now.

Bob Vylan, the London punk-rap duo whose members go by Bobby Vylan and Bobbie Vylan, were at the center of controversy last summer after leading a “Death to the IDF!” chant at the UK’s premier music festival, Glastonbury, in protest of Israel’s genocidal war crimes in Palestine. At the time, the BBC, which livestreamed the festival, described the chant as “deeply offensive” and refused to make Bob Vylan’s set viewable on demand.

Tuesday, Malcolm Todd — the Steve Lacy-esque alt-pop artist and brother to fellow rising star Audrey Hobert — was awarded his first #1 song on Spotify when “Earrings” topped the Global Daily singles chart with 4.165 million streams. However, after a Kalshi trader noticed something suspicious about the numbers, he brought up the matter with the streaming service, who confirmed fraud and deleted more than 500,000 of the song’s streams, leaving it at #4.
