Torture Methods – “RIPPER, REAPER”

In May, NYC-based musician Grant Chapman, who’s the percussionist for Chris Taylor’s Body Meat, released the self-titled debut for his sample-based project Torture Methods. Torture Methods is a gothic, glitch-ridden nightmare — but one of those fun ones that plays out in the mind like a surrealist arthouse film. On Friday Sept. 18, Chapman returned with a new single “RIPPER, REAPER.”

Ed Sheeran’s tour has been in shambles this week after ousting tour opener Macklemore, who made pro-Palestinian remarks in New Jersey earlier this month. Following controversy over those MetLife Stadium shows, billionaire Robert Kraft, whose Kraft Group owns Gillette Stadium, where one of Sheeran’s shows was set to take place, called for Macklemore to be kicked off the tour.

The Weeknd Debuts New Song “Tokyo” With Yoko Takahashi At Asian Tour Kickoff

Over the past few years, Abel Tesfaye has made a fuss over his “the Weeknd” stage name, going back and forth about whether or not he’s going to retire it. It looks like he’s not, as he debuted a new Weeknd song called “Rio” in April, and tonight he debuted another one called “Tokyo.”

Rosé – “new trick”

Don’t worry, we’re not going to try to make you pay attention every time one of the BlackPink girls releases a solo track. But if one of them happens to make a banger, you might want to know about that. Rosé, the New Zealand-born BlackPink member, has made at least one banger outside the context of the huge K-pop group. Her 2024 Bruno Mars collab “APT” was a global smash, and it’s still by far the biggest solo track to come from the BlackPink mothership. The same thing could conceivably happen with hew new single “new trick.”

Curly Castro – “Black Don’t Crack” (Feat. Fatboi Sharif, Blueprint, Brian Ennals, SKECH185, AJ Suede, & billy woods)

The purpose of this blog post its to get you to listen to Yaphet, the new album from Philadelphia indie rapper Curly Castro. In most cases, the headline of the post would just be something about how that album exists. But a prospective reader might be more likely to click after seeing lots and lots of other underground rap names in the headline. As it happens, Yaphet opens with a gigantic six-minute posse cut that sounds like the Backwoodz Studioz Avengers assembling, so that’s what goes in the headline. It’s just how the internet works.
