For several years, Morrissey has publicly complained that no record label will release his new music. Capitol was allegedly supposed to share Bonfire Of Teenagers in 2023, but instead he departed and said the label was trying to wreck his career. In September the former Smiths frontman said labels wouldn’t put out the LP due to the controversial title track, and in November he said it was because free speech is criminalized.

Lady Gaga had a big hit with Mayhem this year, earning her seventh #1 album and seven Grammy nominations. But for her new concert film, the pop star is turning the clock back to her Joker: Folie à Deux era. Harlequin Live: One Night Only was filmed in September 2024 at LA’s Belasco Theatre in front of a small audience, and its setlist focuses on her covers of jazz standards from the film’s companion album that was released a few days before the show. She had never before performed those song live. Why release it now? “It’s kind of a rebellious project,” Gaga told Variety. “And, by Harlequin standards, Christmas is the perfect time to release something rebellious.” The film, which was shot by Marcell Rév, premiered at the Grammy Museum in LA last week and it’s available to watch on YouTube starting tonight.

Last week Steven Drozd unceremoniously announced that his 30-year-plus tenure with the Flaming Lips had ended, writing on Threads in a since-deleted post: “They’re done with me — but we’re not talking about it. So I’m moving on.” On Sunday, in response to online criticism of frontman Wayne Coyne, Drozd’s ex-bandmate Matthew Duckworth Kirksey addressed the split in a statement shared as an Instagram collaboration with the band. “This idea that Steven was THE musical genius, and Wayne is just some weirdo artist… Its just not true,” it read.
