Bleachers – “the van”

Breakbeats in a Bleachers song? That’s what I think I’m hearing at the outset of “the van,” the latest from Jack Antonoff’s band’s forthcoming everyone for ten minutes. The grandiose orchestral sample, the killer repeating drum fill — it’s the closest to a rap song I’ve heard from Antonoff, even if the end result is…

Wednesday Cover MJ Lenderman For April Fool’s Day In Boston

As far as we know, MJ Lenderman is still technically a member of Wednesday, though he stepped back from touring with them in early 2025. I’m sure a lot of factors went into that decision, but two main reasons come to mind: The runaway success of Lenderman’s 2024 solo album Manning Fireworks, and the fact that his long-term relationship with Wednesday bandleader Karly Hartzman had ended. With new live guitarist Jake “Spyder” Pugh in the crew, Wednesday’s tour schedule is still absolutely popping off — including a night at Madison Square Garden opening for Bleachers this September. And last night at the Roadrunner in Boston, they managed to pull off what I think is a really good April Fool’s joke by opening with a snippet of Manning Fireworks‘ title track.

Eric André Announces New Blarf Album Film Scores For Films That Don’t Exist: Hear “What’s For Dinner”

Eric André is bringing back his musical project Blarf. Film Scores For Films That Don’t Exist, the follow-up to Blarf’s 2019 debut album Cease & Desist, is out in May. The title is quite literal. Taking inspiration from composers like Ennio Morricone and Vangelis, the actor-comedian — who studied upright bass at Berklee College of…

Cold Court Announce Debut EP (^_^) / (aka: HANDS UP): Hear “Burn”

“We grew up on Skrillex and 100 Gecs. It’s hard for me to think that something like Skrillex could be less valuable or less intellectual than something like Talking Heads.” That’s a quote from Jojo Lavina-Maldonado, one-half of the Philly-based sibling duo Cold Court, who are announcing their debut EP (^_^) / today. It’s…

Billy Corgan & Courtney Love Reunite On Corgan’s Podcast To Air Their Grievances About Kim Gordon

Billy Corgan and Courtney Love go way back. Hole’s head honcho briefly dated the Smashing Pumpkins founder in 1991; she claims most of Siamese Dream is about her. Corgan co-wrote several songs on Hole’s 1998 classic Celebrity Skin, and Hole’s Melissa Auf der Maur did a stint as the Pumpkins’ bassist during the tour supporting 2000’s Machina/The Machines Of God. Today, Love has taken a break from teasing a non-existent Hole reunion and chronicling her journey toward Geese fandom to guest on Corgan’s podcast The Magnificent Others.

Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds Announce 2026 Tour Dates

Sturgill Simpson and his longtime band have been having themselves a year. The group, now going by the name Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds, announced the physical-only release of their sex-crazed protest album Mutiny After Midnight with a manifesto of sorts, then leaked it to YouTube a week and a half before release. (The album has since been removed from YouTube, though Simpson says it will be on streaming services eventually.) Mutiny After Midnight debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200, a career best for Simpson, without any streaming to juice his sales figures. Now they’re taking this show back on the road.

The Starting Line & Algernon Cadwallader Members Announce Debut FILM Album Permanence: Hear “Roundabout”

In 2025, emo veterans Algernon Cadwallader and pop-punk cult favorites the Starting Line both released their first albums in over a decade. (The Starting Line, for what it’s worth, also got namechecked on Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department.) While all that was going on, it turns out Algernon guitarist Joe Reinhart and Starting Line…

Shad Responds To Drake’s Misinformed Shade In Junos Speech

Drake is still holding grudges from 15 years ago. During Sunday’s Juno Awards, Drake appeared remotely, sending in a video to induct Nelly Furtado into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame. During that speech, Drake paused all of his praise for. Furtado to hype his upcoming album Iceman — he’s still calling it that — and to take a stray shot at the London, Ontario rapper Shad.
