Liz Phair & Sleater-Kinney Announce Co-Headline Tour

Liz Phair and Sleater-Kinney emerged from different corners of the ’90s underground, making very different kinds of indie rock, with wildly different lyrical perspectives and priorities. Though they were mutual admirers and dealt with some of the same obstacles in a male-dominated music industry, their music didn’t have that much in common beyond getting slotted into the same “women in rock” editorial packages. But decades later, they somehow make perfect sense together. Both acts have amassed legendary catalogs. Both faced some backlash at one point over their attempts to go pop. Both weathered those storms and continue to be revered as towering icons in their field. So it’s only right that they’re going on tour together.

Last summer Alex G released his latest LP Headlights. I thought it was great at the time, and I still do, too! But even with ten studio albums and a major label deal to his name, Alex G still maintains some proximity to his reputation as a DIY hero who does things his own way,…

Glaive & Kurtains Announce New Collaborative Album God Save The Three: Hear “The Troubles”

A few years ago, the extremely young North Carolina musician Ash Blue Gutierrez signed to Interscope and emerged hyperpop’s great teenage commercial hope. Hayley Williams Mocks Morgan Wallen, Covers Her Grandad, And Brings Out Snõõper Singer At Nashville Homecoming Show

Hayley Williams is not a fan of her fellow Nashville resident Morgan Wallen. The Paramore singer first publicly alluded to this last summer in an interview with Stereogum honky tonk correspondent Rachel Brown, during which she revealed that Wallen’s This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen was her least favorite country musician-owned establishment in the city. That helped narrow down who Williams might be referring to on the title track to her recent solo album Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party, where she sings “I’ll be the biggest star at this racist country singer’s bar” (Jason Aldean and Kid Rock are also strong contenders). Williams was asked about that lyric a few months later during an interview on the New York Times‘ Popcast: “It could be [about] a couple people, but I’m always talking about Morgan Wallen,” she said. “I don’t give a shit. Find me at Whole Foods, bitch. I don’t care.”

Hunter Biden Finally Breaks His Legendary Silence About Fakemink

Perhaps you saw fakemink — one of our favorite new artists of last year — at Coachella earlier this month. If not, perhaps you saw photos of Hunter Biden — son of former US President Joe Biden — hanging out with the London rapper backstage during the festival’s second weekend. When those photos went viral, a lot of people thought they were AI-generated, considering the 56-year-old lobbyist/businessman is not the type of person you might expect to enjoy an off-kilter cloud rap set at Coachella. But fakemink associate Christian Thomas-Irving, aka CTi, confirmed to Stereogum that the encounter did in fact happen, and TMZ confirmed that it was real, too. fakemink’s “Night, Blooming Jasmine .” engineer Moustafax2 posted a selfie with Biden too. Now, Biden himself has broken his legendary silence on the matter.
