Katy Perry To Recoup $1.8M From Dying 1-800-Flowers Founder

In 2020, Katy Perry and her husband at the time Orlando Bloom purchased a $15 million home in Santa Barbara from Carl Westcott, an army veteran and millionaire who founded 1-800-Flowers. He quickly tried to undo the deal, claiming he was on prescribed painkillers due to a back surgery when he signed the contract and therefore of “unsound mind.” He sued Perry’s business manager Bernie Gudvi, and he lost at a bench trial. Perry asked for $4.7 million in damages, and now she’s been awarded $1.8 million.

Elton John Announces Rock In Rio Concert, But “Can’t Really See What’s Going On”

Elton John is coming to Brazil. The Rocket Man didn’t stop in the country during his massive Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, but he’s making up for his long, long time away by headlining Rock In Rio 2026. However, it’ll be one of his first big shows since he contracted a “severe eye infection” back in 2024 that left him “with only limited vision in one eye.” Although he’s hopeful he might regain some of his vision, he spoke in a new interview with Variety about the toll it’s taken on his mental heath.

My Bloody Valentine Join Israel Streaming Boycott: “They’re Not Going To Stop Unless You Make Them”

My Bloody Valentine are playing shows again. The shoegaze legends gave their first performance in seven years at a surprise Dublin warm-up gig last week, and now their UK tour is underway. While MBV aren’t always the most outspoken band, they’ve used the occasion to make a clear statement in support of the people of Palestine.

Watch De La Soul Give A Heartfelt, Grown-Man Kimmel Performance

It’s hard to see De La Soul perform without one of their members. The group’s camaraderie, their joyous “three is the magic number” dynamic, was always key to their appeal. If it’s hard to watch, imagine how hard it is for the people giving the performance. But they’re doing it.

Tom Green Covered Kurt Vile’s “Pretty Pimpin”

Tom Green! You remember that guy! From MTV! And from Freddy Got Fingered and Road Trip and Charlie’s Angels! If you are too young to remember Tom Green, I truly don’t know why you’re here. You must have a very curious mind, and I commend you for that. You are out here trying to learn about history, about the world, and I’m afraid you aren’t going to pick much up here. If you weren’t there for it, the Tom Green phenomenon is an extremely difficult thing to explain. But it happened. He was a big deal. He’ll probably always be passively famous in the way that people who were on MTV in the ’90s will always be passively famous.

For 10 Years Now, Batu’s Timedance Has Been Turning Up The Bass

As Batu, Omar McCutcheon twists darkness into odd structures. He grew up near Oxford, UK, where he was mesmerized by his father’s vinyl collection. Settling into his current alias as a teenager, he enrolled at Bath Spa University to study production. “My love of electronic music really started with dubstep,” he remembers. “It morphed into this hybrid sound, where people started using bits of techno and mixing that with influences from the UK. I followed that, the same way as Hessle Audio and Hyperdub.” Now based in Bristol, McCutcheon has strengthened it as the West Country’s haven for ravers.

In 2021, the Notwist released Vertigo Days, their first album in seven years. Now, the German indie rockers are announcing its follow-up, News From Planet Zombie. Album Of The Week: Pink Siifu ONYX’!

I’m of two minds when it comes to Pink Siifu. On one hand, the Alabama-born rapper and musical adventurer deserves a massive glow-up. He’s consistently kicked out ambitious albums that reward in-depth listening, full of aesthetic left turns but grounded in Siifu’s psychedelic Southern sensibility. He’s one of those underground treasures who should be a household name, and I’d love to hear what he might do with a bigger recording budget. On the other hand, he pursues his vision so uncompromisingly that he might be better suited for cult fame. Why subject himself to the empty-headed noise of the hip-hop media industrial complex when he could be chasing his ideas on the fringes, where no one is going to complain that he’s too weird or argue about his streaming numbers? For over a decade, his music has been thriving in the shadows.
