In career terms, Post Malone is awfully agile. He managed to switch from rap-adjacent pop stardom to country-adjacent pop stardom, and if that’s an easy thing to do, then you try it. Unfortunately, Posty has not proven to be quite so agile in physical terms. Earlier this month, Post fell on his ass onstage, and not for the first time. More recently, he also fell on his wrist while livestreaming.

Around this time of year I usually publish a ranking of the highest rated comments on Stereogum articles from the past 12 months. However, in November we relaunched on a new platform, and its commenting software no longer gives me this information. Maybe this list will kick off a different annual tradition.

A few months ago, Tame Impala released the bush doof-inspired album Deadbeat, and their single “Dracula” became their first-ever Hot 100 hit. Also a few months ago, Tame Impala mastermind Kevin Parker sat down with Stereogum kangaroo correspondent Rachel Brown for an interview. They didn’t talk about the new album, though. Instead, they just talked about Australia.

Amy Taylor, leader of the Australian punk band Amyl And The Sniffers, is suing photographer Jamie Nelson in a California district court, accusing the photographer of “exploitation of her image.” According to the complaint, Nelson did a photo shoot with Taylor for Vogue Portugal with the understanding that Nelson would not sell the images from that shoot as fine art prints. Now that Nelson is selling those images, Taylor is suing Nelson for damages, including “lost profits and damages to her reputation, brand, and business interests.”

A couple of weeks ago, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that Washington, DC’s Kennedy Center would change its name to the Trump-Kennedy Center. Jazz musician Chuck Redd responded by canceling his annual Christmas Eve concert at the venue, and venue president Richard Grenell threatened Redd with a million-dollar lawsuit. But the potential of a lawsuit hasn’t stopped more artists from canceling their planned Kennedy Center performances in protest.

Jack White is not a fan of Donald Trump. We know this. The newly inducted Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer has called out the Trump Administration for multiple outrages, most recently Trump’s indefensible comments on Rob Reiner’s murder. In response, Tim Burchett, a far-right Republican Congressman who represents Tennessee’s Knox County, tweeted a fake AI-generated video of White while making fun of his appearance. White isn’t happy about that.

If you’re in the band Nickelback, or if you’re responsible for operating the band Nickelback’s social media accounts, you’re going to have to be OK with people making fun of you. It’s part of the job. Nickelback are quite possibly this century’s biggest, most obvious popular music punching bag. So when movie star and Tenacious D leader Jack Black goes semi-viral with a spirited, off-the-cuff butchering of Nickelback’s signature song, the band can’t really get mad about it.
