Dana And Alden are a spunky musical duo from Eugene, Oregon that make disarmingly sweet (earnest even?) jazz psychedelia. (Some might recognize Alden from his account Gucci_Pineapple.) Today, they’ve shared that they’re releasing a new album Speedo next month via Concord Jazz. They made the announcement with the project’s first single “Don’t Run Away,” accompanied with a video filmed in London by Alden and Nick Liden that features UK social media personalities MrBruv and Faye.

Although they’re a neo-folk musician, Jazmine Mary might be shifting gears on their third album I Want To Rock And Roll, which is out June 13 via Flying Nun Records. But there’s no indication of glam rocking or KISS influences in the singles we’ve heard from the follow-up to 2023’s Dog and 2021 The Licking Of A Tangerine. Last month the Gippsland, Australia musician shared the bluesy, synth-steered single “Memphis,” and today, we get another one titled “My Brilliance.”

Every week the Stereogum staff chooses the five best new songs of the week. The eligibility period begins and ends Thursdays right before midnight. You can hear this week’s picks below and on Stereogum’s Favorite New Music Spotify playlist, which is updated weekly. (An expanded playlist of our new music picks is available to members on Spotify and Apple Music, updated throughout the week.)

Tonight, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked off their Land Of Hope & Dreams Tour at Co-op Live in Manchester, England. The Boss included a series of politically-minded remarks to accompany the songs “Land Of Hope And Dreams,” “House Of A Thousand Guitars,” and “My City Of Ruins.”

S.G. Goodman’s evocative storytelling skills are on display on her amazing new single “Snapping Turtle,” which begins with a scene of kids beating a turtle with a stick. “So I asked if I could take a lick/ When I raised my hand I brought down the wrath of god himself/ Beat those kids till they were crying out for help/ I couldn’t help myself/ Then threw the turtle in the truck,” she sings. Goddamn.

Kilo Kish releases her new Negotiations EP this Friday. After sharing “Digital Emotional,” “Reprogram,” and “Negotiate” with Miguel, she’s back with one last taste with the futuristic anthem “Enough.”

Next month the Bug Club unveil their new album Very Human Features. “Jealous Boy” and “How To Be A Confidante” have served as charming previews, and today the Welsh band is back with the final single, “Appropriate Emotions.”

You may have heard about certain notable music-related locales making their way to Airbnb, from ex-Beatle Pete Best’s family home to the American Football house. But Airbnb also occasionally teams up with musicians to offer specially-curated “Experiences,” like a swanky stay at Prince’s Minneapolis house from the Purple Rain movie. Now, Megan Thee Stallion is joining in, serving as the face of their new Otaku Hottie quest.

Two years ago, Abel Tesfaye said he would be making one last album under the name the Weeknd. That album came earlier this year with the release of the anticlimactic Hurry Up Tomorrow, which completed a trilogy. Now he’s saying he might not retire the moniker after all.
