Alabama Shakes kicked off the year by teasing their first new music in eight years and announcing a reunion tour. The first show went down last night in Chicago and featured debuts of unreleased songs.

The Weezer influence in indie rock will never die. Have you heard the Yawn Mower singles? Or the new Jobber? Now there’s Hard Chiller, who incorporate the beloved band’s sound into their new caustic, grungy anthem “The Wall.”

There’s something addictive about Addison Rae singing, “So I put my headphones on/ Listen to my favorite song” on the Addison single “Headphones On.” British singer-songwriter Opal Mag pulls a similar move on her heady new tune “Kitchen Song,” which is anchored by the simple yet great hook: “I love the sound.”

Kerosene Heights are full of emotional bangers. “Waste My Time” and “New Tattoo” have served as riveting, invigorating previews of their new album Blame It On The Weather, and the Asheville emo crew is continuing their hot streak today with “Forget It.”

Last month Margo Price announced her new album Hard Headed Woman and offered the confident anthem “Don’t Let The Bastards Get You Down” as a preview. Now she’s teaming up with fellow singer-songwriter Jesse Welles for the dream-filled new single “Don’t Wake Me Up.”

Next month Wombo will unveil their new record Danger In Fives. So far the Louisville indie rockers have shared the title track and “Neon Bog,” and now they’re back with another lush, creeping preview called “Spyhopping.”

Beyoncé’s massive Cowboy Carter Tour has not been without some bumps. A couple months ago, the superstar was hit with a cease-and-desist from the Vegas Shere over jokey visual displayed during her performance. The other week she had to halt her hometown show in Houston when her flying car malfunctioned. It’s only getting worse: Last week thieves broke into her team’s SUV and stole several items, including hard drives containing unreleased music.

Wicca Phase Springs Eternal is the solo project of former Tigers Jaw guitarist/vocalist Adam Andrzejewski (né McIlwee), also a co-founder of the emo rap collective GothBoiClique. He’s released quite a few albums under the Wicca Phase moniker since departing Tigers Jaw, with the most recent being 2023’s self-titled. Today Andrzejewski has announced a new album called Mossy Oak Shadow, arriving in September, which is billed as a record of “mystical folk rock.” There are two singles out now called “Horseback” and “Enchantment,” and it’s true — they’re not sounding very emo rap.

Enigmatic electronic duo Two Shell released their great self-titled LP last October, and they played a couple songs from it during their recent set at Glastonbury’s club-ready IICON Stage. Also during that set, which you can listen to in full, they played a few songs that had yet to be released until now. Today Two Shell are back with a surprise-released album called IIcons. According to a press release, the album is “a collection of previously unreleased tracks” that “offers a deep dive into glitchy, dark, and emotive club music — much of it familiar to fans who’ve caught Two Shell live over the past year.” Two Shell add in their own statement:

The surviving members of Soundgarden have sometimes performed together in the years since Chris Cornell’s death — with Brandi Carlile, for instance — and they were originally among the massive list of metal and hard rock legends slated to perform at this month’s Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath farewell concert. But somewhere along the line they dropped off the lineup without an announcement or explanation. That explanation has come today, sort of.
