Last year, Beak> released the surprise album >>>>, and a few months later Geoff Barrow announced he was leaving the band. They kick off the final leg of their last tour with him next weekend, but today the UK group released their soundtrack to State Of Silence. They’ve also announced 7″ with two outtakes from the >>>> sessions with profits going to charity.

In 2012, as the cult-beloved Manchester rock band WU LYF broke up, their frontman Ellery Roberts teamed up with his girlfriend Ebony Hoorn under the name Lost Under Heaven. Recently, Lost Under Heaven announced their own musical breakup and released the farewell single “Creation Song.” When the news came out that LUH were hanging it up, some hopeful commenters here wondered if WU LYF — short for World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation — might get back together. That seemed like wishful thinking to me, but it looks like they might be getting their wish.

In the nearly three years since we learned a sequel to the classic mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap was in the works, we’ve heard about many of the rock stars who’ll appear in the film, including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Garth Brooks, and noted skinsmen Lars Ulrich and Chad Smith as entrants in Spinal Tap’s procession of doomed drummers. The band’s bassist Derek Smalls (aka Harry Shearer) also released a solo single.

As far as we know, the Oasis reunion is still happening. The Stereogum tips line has yet to receive any juicy gossip about any details surrounding the tour. But “sources close to the upcoming reunion tour” apparently told NME who’d be backing up the Gallaghers onstage this summer, despite neither Liam nor Noel confirming the lineup. Now, it appears that Liam has confirmed NME‘s Oasis lineup reportage, though he doesn’t seem happy about the circumstances.

Haim have been in teaser mode lately, seemingly building up to their first album since 2020’s Women In Music Pt. III. (Has it really been five years? And did you remember it was nominated for Album Of The Year at the Grammys?) We still don’t know much about the new LP, but a press release accompanying its lead single confirms an album is coming.

Molly Burch is embarking on a new path. The indie darling recently revealed that she is stepping back from music after a rough couple of years, and she is in the process of launching a nonprofit called Picnic Studio that hosts art classes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

In 2023, KISS played their final show ever and promptly announced that holograms will take their place in 2027. So now Gene Simmons has more time for his solo career. And since he apparently doesn’t have any friends, he’s going to make some on an upcoming tour. Simmons is offering intimate, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for fans, including the opportunity to be his personal assistant and band roadie for the mere price of $12,495.

George Clinton — who will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in June — has filed a lawsuit against his former business partner Armen Boladian and his Bridgeport Music company. The Parliament-Funkadelic leader and funk legend accuses Boladian of fraudulently acquiring copyrights to about 90 percent of his catalog, and Clinton is suing for $100 million.

“There’s nothing romantic in being alone.” So goes the refrain on Sunflower Bean’s surprising new single. The song — our latest preview of the NYC rock band’s forthcoming Mortal Primetime — boasts a power-chord-blasted chorus with huge harmonized hooks, straight out of ’70s and ’80s arena rock. The band cites Heart, Pat Benatar, and Joan Jett as inspirations, and, yeah, it really does fit into that lineage. “Nothing Romantic” also features piano from Jellyfish’s Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and a video directed by Sophia Feuer.
